Brave Enough for Jesus’ Reform
Rev. Deacon Alicia Anderson
Jesus calls us to look at how authority is shaping institutions in our lives. Like the ancient temple in Jerusalem, our churches, workplaces, communities, and governments can benefit the most powerful and well-connected, or can be shaped to serve everyone, particularly those who are most vulnerable. May we open our minds to the possibilities that reform brings and find the courage to question authority in our own lives. When we are the ones in authority, may we find the wisdom and strength to reach beyond self-interest and what is familiar and safe. May we be part of the movement of the Holy Spirit as God reforms and renews the world. Tomorrow a new Gospel Walk begins — a fresh passage, a new week, and another chance to listen for what Jesus is making new.
