Susan Slote

Steering Committee

Susan Slote lives in Meadville, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Ben. They are members of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, where Susan has served as an Authorized Lay Worship Leader and will soon begin serving in the NWPA Synod’s pilot program for Synod-Authorized Lay Ministers. Susan serves on the GTIITM Steering Committee.

Susan was born and raised primarily in the Rochester, New York, area. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with majors in English Literature and American Studies, then continued her studies in the doctoral program in English Literature at Yale University.

Susan and Ben both taught at Allegheny College in Meadville for more than 33 years before recently retiring. Susan taught in the English Department and directed the Education Studies program. They have two children: Audrey, recently married to Jeremy Orosz, and Joseph. Outside of her work at Twelve Apostles, she enjoys ongoing learning opportunities, reading, and (very amateur!) gardening.
