Karla Leiby
Karla Leiby
Steering Committee
The Rev. Karla Leiby is the pastor at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northumberland, PA and also serves as Assistant to the Bishop for Leadership Formation in the Upper Susquehanna Synod. Karla holds a Master of Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Scranton University. As Assistant to the Bishop for Leadership Formation, Karla draws on her past experiences in leadership, education, and innovation to assist the synod in continuing to provide great leaders for God’s Church. Karla serves as Chair of the Candidacy Committee, Steering Committee for GTIITM Grant, Lay Ministry Institute Board, and the Committee on Discipline for the USS. She continues to use her nursing skills as a volunteer at children’s camps, and in known at Camp Mount Luther as Pastor Nurse Karla.
Karla lives in Bloomsburg on the family farm with her husband Matthew and a menagerie of pets. She enjoys time with her two grown sons and their families, especially her grandchildren Hadley and Holt. In her spare time, Karla enjoys time with her horses, quilting, camping, and reading.
